Deputies investigating body found in Junction City

The Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office on Monday is investigating the body of a deceased male found in Junction City.

Sheriff Mike Lukas said the body of a 49-year-old Junction City man was found in a “deep embankment” along W. First St. about 150 east of Church Ave. shortly after noon on Nov. 30.

“The Portage Co. Medical Examiner and our officers are investigating, but the name is being withheld pending notification of the family,” Lukas said on Monday.

Deputies were called to the scene after someone called 911 to report having found the body at 12:13 p.m. Lukas said he does not believe the public is in any danger.
