David Kenneth Trzebiatowski (DKT), 83

David Kenneth Trzebiatowski (DKT), 83, of Polonia, passed away Dec. 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

David was born July 31, 1942, the eldest of four children, to Leo and Donella (Groshek) Trzebiatowski. He grew up on the family farm near Polonia and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1959 at the age of 16.

David cherished his memories as a young boy working with his father and grandfather well-drilling, plumbing and farming. Throughout his life, he maintained these interests, especially his passion for farming. He loved tools; he never had enough of them. Nearly everything David owned he labeled with his initials; thus, he was affectionately referred to as “DKT.” He was the ultimate handyman.

He utilized his many skills and practical knowledge in helping relatives and neighbors with plumbing and electrical projects and at his places of employment. David worked for the Soo Line Railroad, Nekoosa Paper Mill and in the maintenance departments at Elizabeth Inn, Holiday Inn, and UWSP. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Moose Lodge.

On May 1, 1965, David married Anita Zalewski and they raised six children together. The marriage later ended in divorce. On April 27, 2002, David married Janice Zywicki.

In addition to his wife, Janice, David is survived by his children: Julie (Lee) Rekowski, Linda (Tim) Schuh, Shari Hauck, Rick (Luz) Trebs, David (Suzanne) Trzebiatowski and daughter-in-law Jenny Trzebiatowski; 12 grandchildren: Joshua (Emily), Sierra and Erika Schuh; Nicole and Ari Hauck; Victoria, Violeta and Valentina Trebs; Corey and Alex Trzebiatowski and Reese and Grey Trzebiatowski; two stepsons, Norman (Jenny) Zywicki and Nicholas Zywicki (Janet Raflik); and two stepgrandchildren, Austin and Jorja Zywicki.

David is also survived by his siblings, Louise Parks, Allan Trzebiatowski and Carl Trzebiatowski; Janice’s siblings and/or their spouses, Larry (Sue) Damask, Greg Bestul, Betty (Marv) Bembenek, Ken Cebula, Kathy Groshek (Lee Larson), Ralph (Helen) Damask and James (Robyn) Damask; and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Trzebiatowski; his in-laws, Darrell Parks, Donna Trzebiatowski and Mary Trzebiatowski; Janice’s parents, Edmund and Jean Damask; and Janice’s siblings/spouse, Phyllis Bestul, Louise Cebula, Lou Groshek and John Damask.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 7375 Church St., Custer. The family will greet relatives and friends at Shuda Funeral Home, 3200 Stanley St., Stevens Point, from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, and again at the church Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Private burial will follow at St. Adalbert Parish Cemetery, Rosholt.
