David was born on July 7, 1936, in Milwaukee to Harry and Sarah Cash. He graduated from West Division High School and earned a degree in Criminal Justice at MATC. It was at West Division that David met his classmate, Anita.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in July 1959 and served on active duty until 1961, during which time he married the love of his life, Anita, in 1959 in Tacoma, Wash. David continued to serve his country through the Army Reserves for a total of 28 years and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4.
Following his Army active duty service, David completed his training at the Milwaukee Police Academy and became a police officer in 1967. He retired from the force in 1993 and moved to Stevens Point shortly thereafter.
David loved the outdoors and had a passion for hunting and fishing including fishing salmon on Lake Michigan as well as his many trips to Alaska with Anita and his family. He and Anita enjoyed years of travel, including trips to Australia, and the Philippines, many Caribbean cruises with friends, and a historical tour of World War II sites across Europe. Most importantly, David enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Anita; as well as his two sons; Chuck and Dan (Maylani), including grandchildren Sarah, Zachary, Ethan, Chasya, Elijah, and other family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Phillip Cash.
