Daniel Velaire Goulet, 77

Daniel Velaire Goulet, age 77, of Stevens Point passed away at home on Sunday, December 23, 2018.

A Celebration of Life Service for Daniel will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Church of the Intercession/Redeemer Lutheran Church, 900 Brilowski Rd. Friends and family may gather to share memories from 9:00-10:45 a.m. on Thursday at the church.

Military Honors will be at the church after the service. Shuda Funeral Services is assisting the family.

Daniel was born on June 28, 1941, the son of Emmanuel and Leone (Statsmann) Goulet, in Buhl, Minn. He attended local schools and graduated high school in Buhl. He received his B.S. from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn., a masters degree from St. Louis University in St. Louis, and a Ph.D. from the University of Houston.

Daniel served as a captain in the U.S. Army until he was honorably discharged June 30, 1972.

On August 19, 1964, Daniel married Kathleen Hammers. Daniel was a Professor of Mathematics and Computing at UW-Stevens Point for 28 years, retiring in 2008.

Daniel was a master gardener, master woodworker, and was involved with Operation Bootstrap. He also was part of the UWSP Blue Line Club and involved with the YMCA Community Gardens.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Kathleen M. Goulet, Stevens Point; son, Dean (Ashley) Goulet, Weston; daughter, Kristine (Anthony) Romain, Madison; and four grandchildren: Landon Goulet, Robyn Romain, Tyler Romain, and Kathryn Romain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Manley Goulet.
