Daniel “Dan” T. Hoff, 56
Daniel “Dan” T. Hoff, 56, of Stevens Point, died Sept. 23, 2024, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Dan was born June 26, 1968, in Wausau to Jerry and Judith (née Price) Hoff. He grew up in several states, including Wisconsin, Louisiana, and Texas, but enjoyed spending time at his grandparents’ home on Rockton Road in Illinois.
Throughout his childhood, Dan was involved in a variety of sports, including football, soccer, baseball, hockey, swimming, and track. He graduated from Clements High School in Sugar Land, Texas, in 1987.
Dan attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 2014. A proud father of three daughters, Dan embraced the role of “Swim Dad” for 20 years, volunteering at his daughters’ swim meets as an official or timer and supporting them in their endeavors.
Family was Dan’s greatest joy. He took his children to his grandparents’ farm in Illinois, sharing his favorite childhood memories. Summers were spent at the family’s lake house on Lake Nokomis, where they enjoyed boating, fishing, and waterskiing. Dan also loved watching sports, golfing, grilling, and cooking for family and friends. He found peace in caring for his dogs, gardening, and reading. Dan’s generous and kind spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
Dan is survived by his wife, Jamie Hoff; daughters, Vanessa Lenzner, Sydney Hoff, and Bella Hoff; his mother, Judy (Jeffrey) Moffat; a sister, Pam Hoff; and a brother, Andy (Kari) Hoff. He is further survived by his stepmother, Vickie Hoff; mother-in-law, Judy Lenzner; father-in-law, Dan (Jody) Lenzner; brother-in-law, Jason Lenzner; aunt, Barbara Hoff; cousins, Kathie (Joel) Beesley, Matt Price, Sherri (Bill) Netzel, and Sandy (Lance) Cooper; nephews, Taylor (Zoe) Schmidtbauer, and Rex and Cayleb Hoff; nieces, Katie and Nikki Steele, and Elliana Hoff; his self-chosen brother, Rusty (Sadie) McMillan; and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Hoff; paternal grandparents, Clarence and Helen Hoff; maternal grandparents, Robert and Ila Price; uncle, Denny (Shirley) Price; and cousin, Rusty Hoff.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses in the cardiac ICU in Wausau—Olivia, Kelsey, Rachel, and care coordinator Stephanie—for their support in fulfilling Dan’s wish to be an organ donor. His legacy of generosity continues through his gifts.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at Shuda Funeral Chapel, 3200 Stanley St., Stevens Point. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. until the time of service.
