STEVENS POINT — Mystery and hilarity are taking center stage at Sentry Theater as the Central Wisconsin Area Community Theater (cwACT) presents its production of “Clue.”

Based on the iconic board game and cult-classic 1985 film, this comedic murder mystery unfolds over two weekends this winter, delivering a night of intrigue, laughs, and surprises.

Set in a remote mansion, the plot begins with an unexpected murder that disrupts a dinner party. Six eccentric guests, each harboring secrets, must navigate blackmail and suspicion to identify the killer.

“The show is a fast-paced farce that pulls heavily from the Hollywood screwball comedies of the 1930s and 1940s,” said Director Jeff Cook. “There are elements of classic films like ‘His Girl Friday’ and ‘Bringing Up Baby,’ as well as absurdist, almost cartoonish, comedic moments that should hit the funny bone of almost everyone.”

With an energetic cast and a script filled with surprise twists, Cook said the production offers a lively take on the beloved 1980s film.

“If you love the film, you’ll have a great time with the stage play,” he added.

The cast’s talent and dedication have made directing the production a rewarding experience, Cook said. “It’s wonderful to work with a group that understands the material and the vision for the show. At the same time, they all still manage to remain true to the core of the original characters that the audience is familiar with.”

The show runs at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Feb. 2. It returns for two more performances at 7 p.m. Feb. 7 and 8.

Tickets are available at cwact.org or can be purchased at the door. Prices are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, $10 for children, and $7 for veterans.

For mystery enthusiasts and comedy fans alike, “Clue” promises an evening of suspense, laughter, and surprises.
