CoVantage Credit Union has announced the totals for this year’s fundraising of its charitable arm, the CoVantag Cares Foundation.

According to a news release from the credit union, the Foundation handed out $433,362.10 in checks to local nonprofit organizations this year. The fund is comprised of donations made by credit union members, staff, and community members who supported the Foundation’s 2022 Giving Tuesday, which ran from Nov. 29 to Dec. 13.

Now in its seventh year, the Foundation has raised $2.2 million for more than 60 organizations. For the 2022 campaign, Wausau’s Achieve Center and Friends of Emerson Park were chosen as featured recipients.

The Wausau Achieve Center helps provide free care to children from Central Wisconsin struggling with “developmental disorders, chronic health issues, or physical challenges who otherwise would not receive care, helping them reach for the stars and be able to succeed in their dreams.”

Friends of Emerson Park will use donations to invest in the public park system by building a “multigenerational park” that supports an estimated 3,500 residents including “a diverse economic mix of families, young professionals, seniors, and students who live within a half-mile of Emerson Park. More than 50 percent of students in this community qualify for free or reduced lunch.”
