County’s public survey on disaster response plans closing soon

By Patrick Lynn

PORTAGE COUNTY — Portage County is encouraging residents and businesses to participate in a survey on the county’s vulnerability to natural and human-caused disasters.

The survey, open from Aug. 19 to Sept. 20, will help the county develop effective preparedness plans.

The survey will collect data on potential hazards, including floods and severe weather, and evaluate the community’s preparedness and recovery capabilities. The findings will inform a comprehensive hazard mitigation plan designed to reduce risks to lives, property, and the environment.

Residents can access the survey online through the county’s website or directly at https://forms.fillout.com/t/8uYQEH8Mb1us. Hard copies are available at the Portage County Emergency Management Office, 1462 Strongs Ave., 3rd Floor, Stevens Point.

For more information, contact Bob Weinert, emergency management coordinator, at (715) 346-1437 or [email protected], or Bonnie Skalecke, deputy emergency management coordinator, at (715) 346-1492 or [email protected].
