County Ski Trail to Open

For the Metro Wire

Snow-making 2017 has begun.

The Portage County Parks Department this week announced it was preparing for the 2017-18 winter season by kicking on its snow-making machines at Standing Rocks Park.

Activity at the 524-acre park began on Dec. 6, according to a news release from the county park’s department.

Park employees will first work on the park’s cross-country trail, then move to the downhill slopes, a news release from the dept. reads in part. The trail should be open for use this week, with slopes to open Dec. 26.

Standing Rocks Park is located at 7695 Standing Rocks Road.
