The Portage Co. Parks Department has announced it will open its downhill skiing slopes on Jan. 1.
Tow ropes operate from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the season. The park has a lodge and ski shop, two beginner hills, one intermediate hill, and two experts hills. The longest run is approximately 1,200 feet and the steepest vertical drop is 125 feet. Hot concessions are sold in the ski lodge.
Snowboard and ski equipment are available for rent in the lodge.
Adult daily passes at the park cost $16 and a youth pass is $13. Ages eight and under are free. Season passes are available for $75, and combination cross-country and downhill passes are also available. Passes can be purchased on the parks department website.
The park also offers mountain biking and snowshoe trails. Cross-country and winter bike trails have been opened at the park since mid-December.
