The Portage Co. Health Department will begin offering free COVID-19 testing on Tuesday.

The testing is a new pilot program being offered by Portage Co. Health and Human Services in partnership with Ascension, Aspirus, and Marshfield Clinic.

All Wisconsin residents who are 5 years or older that are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, or have been identified as a close contact to someone who tested positive, are eligible for testing. Symptoms include fever and chills, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, diarrhea, vomiting and nausea, and fatigue/muscle aches.

The testing has been scheduled 1-5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the back carport of the Aging and Disability Resource Center, also known as The Lincoln Center, 1519 Water St. in Stevens Point.

Portage Co. hopes to collect 300 tests a week, according to a news release from the health department.
