PLOVER — The Portage County Highway Department announced that the County Trunk Highway B (CTH B) road improvement project, spanning from I-39 to Wisconsin Ave. in the Village of Plover, is now substantially complete.

The roadway is fully open to traffic as of Friday, according to Highway Commissioner Nathan Check.

The project features some significant upgrades, including transitioning the rural roadway between Wisconsin Ave. and Hoover Ave. into an urban design, while also replacing pavement from Hoover Ave. to the I-39 ramps.

Improvements include new concrete sidewalks, an asphalt multi-use path, widened pavement medians, new curbs, gutters, and street lighting. A signalized intersection was installed also at Mecca Dr.

While the major construction is finished, some work remains. Additional lighting, multi-use path installations, concrete repairs, and final punch list items will be completed next spring, Check said.

The remaining tasks will require single-lane closures, but at least one lane will remain open in each direction.
