Convicted sex offender to be released to Stevens Point on June 24
STEVENS POINT — A convicted sex offender is scheduled to be released into the Stevens Point community this week, according to a public notification issued by the Stevens Point Police Department.
Willie H. Jackson, 56, is being released on June 24 and will reside in Stevens Point under the supervision of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. He will be monitored by probation agents with the Division of Community Corrections in Portage County and is subject to lifetime GPS monitoring.
Jackson is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 197 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes.
According to the notification sent out by Lt. Joe Johnson from SPPD, Jackson was convicted in 2017 of third-degree sexual assault for assaulting an adult female acquaintance by forcing intercourse. A prior conviction involved Jackson, then 18, having sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old girl, resulting in pregnancy. In a separate case, charges were dismissed and read in for an offense in which he reportedly beat another adult female acquaintance with various objects before forcing her to engage in several different sex acts.
As part of his release conditions, Jackson is prohibited from having unsupervised contact with minors, may not contact his victims, and is barred from drug use. He must comply with standard sex offender rules, including cooperation with electronic monitoring, face-to-face contact with law enforcement, and continued registration with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry. His address, along with any updates, will be available at www.widocoffenders.org.
The police department issued the notice under a state law that permits law enforcement to notify the public of a sex offender’s release if officials believe it will enhance public safety and awareness.
Authorities caution the public that any effort to harass or intimidate Jackson or any registered sex offender will not be tolerated.
