STEVENS POINT — The Symphonic Wind Ensemble from Concordia University Wisconsin will perform at St. Paul Lutheran Church on March 1, offering a free concert open to the public with a request for a freewill offering.
The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. at 1919 Wyatt Ave. The ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Louis A. Menchaca, has a history of national and international performances, including six European tours and concerts in 38 states.
The group most recently completed a sold-out tour in Spain in March 2024.
Formed on the university’s Mequon campus in 1992, the ensemble serves as the cornerstone of Concordia’s wind, brass, and percussion division.
Over the years, the group has recorded seven CDs, with the latest available on iTunes and Spotify, and performed for President George W. Bush during his commencement address at the Mequon campus.
In addition to concert performances, the ensemble tours annually, offering music clinics for school youth and assisting with worship services and local charitable causes.
