Community Foundation honors Kathy Davies with Keystone Award

By Patrick Lynn

STEVENS POINT — The Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin is celebrating National Community Foundation Week, Nov. 12-18, by honoring Kathy Davies of Plover with the Keystone Award for her extensive dedication and contributions to the foundation’s mission in Portage and Waushara counties.

Davies, a longtime advocate and leader within the Community Foundation, received the 2024 Keystone Award at the foundation’s annual Gala of Gratitude.

Over the years, Davies has served in various roles, including interim executive director and board president, establishing herself as a central figure in local philanthropy. Her involvement with the foundation began in 1997 with the creation of the Laura Davies Memorial Scholarship, which honors her late daughter. She also helped launch the Women’s Fund of Portage County and, along with her husband Tom, joined the foundation’s Living Legacy Society.

Her philanthropic efforts extend to Waushara County, where Davies has supported the Patterson Memorial Library Fund, the Kiwanis Club of Wild Rose Fund, and other community projects in her hometown of Wildrose. The Keystone Award is given each year to individuals who have shown a sustained commitment to strengthening their community through time, energy, and resources.

Community Foundation Week, founded in 1989 by President George H.W. Bush, highlights the role of community foundations in addressing local issues through partnerships across public, private, and nonprofit sectors.

Since 1982, the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin has facilitated over $17 million in charitable contributions, including $1.57 million in the last fiscal year alone, supporting area nonprofits and scholarships.
