City to host state tourism conference

By Patrick Lynn

Stevens Point will host the Wisconsin Fall Tourism Conference in November, an event that will bring hundreds from across the state.

The conference includes an “exciting agenda”, according to a news release from the Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, one that features several keynote speakers and breakout sessions focused on placemaking, social media, content marketing and more.

“There will also be plenty of opportunities for attendees to network,” the release reads. “The sessions also include an interactive marketplace and reception, followed by a dine-around in the Stevens Point Area.”

Friday’s sessions will kick off with the Wisconsin Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (WACVB) presenting awards for the best Wisconsin tourism marketing and partnership campaigns. The award presentations will be followed by a state of the Wisconsin Tourism Industry presentation by Wisconsin Dept. of Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett.

The conference will be held Nov. 8-9 at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Convention Center, 1001 Amber Ave. The SPACVB invites local hospitality and tourism partners to participate.

For more information and to register online, visit EscapetoWisconsin.com/about/convention. Early bird registration for local tourism and hospitality related participants is $140 before October 12.

For those unable to attend the entire conference, tickets are also available for the opening luncheon and keynote for $45, but space is limited.

To reserve a sponsorship or exhibit space at the conference or receive more information about these opportunities, contact Julia Hertel at [email protected] or 608-837-6693 for more information.
