The Stevens Point Bicycle and Pedestrian Street Safety Commission is seeking volunteers to help with the group’s 2021 bicycle and pedestrian count.
Volunteers will be stationed at various locations across the city for the annual count, which this year will take place Sept. 15.
The effort provides the city will an opportunity to apply for grants to help pay for bicycle and pedestrians programs and infrastructure.
According to city records, volunteers counted 632 bicyclists and 961 pedestrians at various locations in 2018. In 2020, the counts were taken on a non-school day during the pandemic, but down at the same locations, with a tally of 552 bicyclists and 636 pedestrians.
The Sept. 15 count will take place from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
