City offers free sand, salt for residents’ sidewalks

Stevens Point residents once again have access to self-serve salt and sand provided by the city.

The sand/salt mix is available for free and meant for residents to apply on sidewalks. Boxes can be found atĀ Morton Park, on the corner of Michigan and Bush streets; Atwell Park, on the corner of Jordan Rd. and Soo Marie Ave.; the corner of Phillips and College streets; and the corner of Fifth Ave. and Second St.

The sand/salt mix is also available at the city garage, 100 Sixth Ave. Residents are limited to two five-gallon buckets, which they must provide themselves.

Under city ordinance, residentsĀ are required to keep sidewalks on their property clear of snow and ice.
