City: Four Seasons residents safe from eviction, for now
By Brandi Makuski
Residents at the Four Seasons Mobile Home Community are safe from eviction, at least for now.
Park residents were issued a water disconnection notice last week after park owner Christopher Reeves failed to make the park’s quarterly water bill. It’s at least the third disconnection notice residents at the park have received since April 2019.
The disconnect was scheduled for 8 a.m. on Thursday. Public Utilities Director Joel Lemke said under state law, a residence without running water is not considered habitable. He told the Metro Wire there would be no disconnection on Sept. 23.
According to a short news release from Mayor Mike Wiza, Lemke’s department has been “working” with Reeves on the issue, adding city staff would “review the situation tomorrow” and re-evaluate if needed.
According to the city’s community development department, about 36 legal residents remain in the park, about half the number who lived in the park when Reeves took ownership in 2017.
Several vacant mobile homes in the park have been marked unsafe for habitation and removed over the past two years, and 12 more are slated for razing before mid-November.
