City announces partnership with Festival Foods for fireworks show

The Stevens Point Parks Department has announced it will partner with Festival Foods to sponsor the 2022 fireworks show at Riverfront Rendezvous.

Due to an undisclosed donation from the company, which recently took over Trig’s grocery store at 1600 Academy Ave., the city is rebranding the display as “Festival Foods Firework Show.”

Mayor Mike Wiza said the partnership will allow the city to conduct “an even better fireworks display than we’ve seen in recent years.”

“I’m very excited about this. Festival [Foods] has a reputation for being a strong community partner and I have no doubt they will live up to that reputation here,” Wiza said in a news release on Friday.

The 38th annual Riverfront Rendezvous, the city’s three-day event of games, activities, live music, and food vendors will be held at Pfiffner Pioneer Park July 1-3, ending with its customary fireworks show along the riverfront. Music acts for this year’s event have not yet been announced.

Mark Skogen, president, and CEO of Festival Foods said the company sponsored its first fireworks show in 1991 and is proud to continue the tradition.

“We are proud to join and support the Stevens Point community with a Festival Foods Fireworks show,” he said. “We look forward to celebrating this year, and years to come.”

More information on this year’s festival will be posted on the city’s website.
