Charlotte “Char” Wierzba, 87

Charlotte “Char” Wierzba, 87, of Rosholt, died peacefully on Jan. 10, 2025, at Portage County Healthcare Center in Stevens Point.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 3315 St. Adalberts Rd. in Rosholt. The Rev. Francis Dias will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in St. Adalbert’s Parish Cemetery.

Charlotte was born June 27, 1937, in Rosholt, the youngest of five children to the late Victor and Stella (née Suchon) Witkowski. She graduated from Rosholt High School in 1955.

She married Robert “Bob” Wierzba on Sept. 29, 1956. The couple briefly lived in Milwaukee before returning to Rosholt in 1960, where they built a home on Collins Lake. Bob died in 1974, leaving Charlotte to raise their five children. She worked several jobs, including positions at Circo Manufacturing, Joerns Furniture, and Rosholt IGA, before retiring from St. Michael’s Hospital.

Charlotte loved the outdoors and animals, with a particular fondness for foxes. Her home was always open to orphaned animals her children brought home, and she cared for them as best she could. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and volunteering at church. She also found joy in spending time with friends and shooting pool. Above all, her greatest joy was her family, and her door was always open to her children.

She is survived by her children, Renee (Ron) Szalewski of Rosholt, Kathy (Mark) Kunkel of Stratford, Robert Jr. (Jennie) Wierzba of Rosholt, Tim Wierzba of Sturgeon Bay, and Wesley Wierzba of Stevens Point; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Marion Witkowski of Almond, and a sister, Theresa Arnsdorff of Milwaukee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents, Victor and Stella; and her sisters, Emily Brill and Wini Koziczkowski.

The family extends special thanks to the staff at Portage County Healthcare Center for the care Charlotte received over the past six years.
