Charlie Berens to guest announce at Golden Sands

Golden Sands Speedway has this week revealed a special guest announcer for an upcoming fundraising event.

Charlie Berens, a popular comedian who struck gold with his “Stuff Wisconsinites Say” series and other goodies on his show “Manitowoc Minute,” will appear at Golden Sands Speedway in July.

The raceway will hold a special Battle of the Counties on Friday, July 12, as deputies from Portage and Wood counties battle it out on the racetrack to raise funds for their respective K-9 units. Races start at 7:45 p.m. and the night also includes a special salute to the troops.

Tickets for the event are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, $10 for kids 6-12, and $5 for children five and under. Gates open to the public at 5 p.m.

All active duty and military veterans have free admission.
