Time running out for candidates to circulate spring nomination papers

Municipal clerks are preparing for the April 4 nonpartisan election for numerous municipal offices.

Candidates running in the spring election could begin circulating nomination papers on Dec. 1. The final day for filing is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3. Candidates can obtain paperwork from their municipal clerk or by visiting the Wisconsin Elections Commission website at https://elections.wi.gov/candidates.

The following offices are on the ballot:

  • Justice of the Supreme Court. The 10-year seat, currently held by Patience Roggensack, expires on July 31.
  • Court of Appeals Judges, District 4. Michael R. Fitzpatrick is the current officeholder. His six-year term expires on July 31.
  • Circuit Court, Branch 1. Michael Zell currently sits on the bench. Th six-year term expires on July 31.
Stevens Point

The majority of the Stevens Point City Council, also known as the Common Council, is up for re-election in April.

  • Mayor. Mike Wiza currently is serving his second term in the four-year role.
  • City Council, District 1. The seat has a two-year term and is currently held by Marc Christianson.
  • City Council, District 3. The seat has a two-year term and is currently held by Ginger Keymer.
  • City Council, District 5. The seat has a two-year term and is currently held by Meleesa Johnson.
  • City Council, District 6. The seat is currently held by David Plaisance.
  • City Council, District 7. The seat has a two-year term and is currently held by Mary Kneebone.
  • City Council, District 9. The seat has a two-year term and is currently held by Polly Dalton.
  • City Council, District 11. The seat has a two-year term and is currently held by Shaun Morrow.
Town of Hull
  • Town Board Chairperson. The two-year position is currently held by Dave Wilz.
  • Town Board Supervisor. Mark Fritsche’s two-year term expires in April.
  • Town Board Supervisor. Janet Way currently holds the seat, which has a two-year term.
Village of Plover
  • Village President. The office has a term of two years and is currently held by Tom Davies.
  • Village Trustee, Ward 1. The office has a term of two years and is currently held by Ross Ballard.
  • Village Trustee, Ward 2. The office has a term of two years and is currently held by Gary Wolf.
  • Village Trustee, Ward 3. The office has a term of two years and is currently held by Steve Fritz.
Town of Plover
  • Town Board Chairperson. The two-year term is currently held by James Garbe.
  • Town Board Supervisor. The two-year term is currently held by Roger Bentley.
  • Town Board Supervisor. The two-year term is currently held by Debra Sniadajewski.
  • Town Clerk/Treasurer. The two-year term is currently held by Patricia Weller.
Village of Whiting
  • Village President. The office has a two-year term that is currently held by Paul Stroik.
  • Village Trustee. The office has a two-year term that is currently held by William Taugner.
  • Village Trustee. The office has a two-year term that is currently held by Kevin Lutz.
  • Village Trustee. The office has a two-year term that is currently held by Kim Furo.
Village of Park Ridge
  • Village President. This office has a two-year term and is currently held by Steve Menzel.
  • Village Trustee. This office has a two-year term and is currently held by Gordon Renfert.
  • Village Trustee. This office has a two-year term and is currently held by Kristin Paulson.

The spring election will be held on Tuesday, April 4. If a primary is necessary, it will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
