Brewery’s new Point Patio opens Friday afternoon

Point Brewery’s new outdoor gathering space will open to the public on Friday.
The brewery created an outdoor bar and seating area just southeast of its operations building called the Point Patio. The space opens at noon on Sept. 3 with a ribbon-cutting scheduled at 4 p.m.
Melissa Wysocki, gift shop manager for Point Brewery, said the outdoor space with room for about 100 people will be open on a “trial run” basis until the weather turns too cold to comfortably sit outside.
“Next year, we’ll add more to it—some food trucks and music,” she said.
The brewery purchased a custom-built truck with a service window, from where it will serve a rotation of 12 beers, and root beer, on tap, with limited-edition-brews available on tap in the future. Everything the brewery currently offers will be also sold from the service window in cans, Wysocki said.
The Point Patio is family-friendly and provides games like giant Jenga, giant Connect-4, and cornhole. Leashed dogs are welcome, Wysocki said, as is carry-in food.
“We don’t want to undercut other businesses or take business away from the bars,” Wysocki said. “But this is something we’ve never been able to do before, offer a place for people to sit and drink. The sampling bar was in the courtyard [indoor] inside but it was very tight on space. Now people have a place to sit.”
The Point Patio has covered seating and picnic tables and is decorated with party lights and has on display one of brewery’s original delivery trucks from 1949. Wysocki said it was located by accident “somewhere in the woods” of Central Wisconsin by an antique dealer.
Hours of operation for the Point Patio are Monday through Saturday, noon to 8 p.m., and Sunday noon to 4 .m. The space will be open on Labor Day, Wysocky said, also from noon to 8 p.m.
The Point Brewery is located at 2617 Water St. in Stevens Point.
