Boys & Girls Club to serve ice cream at Hatch event

The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County is partnering with Hatch to offer ice cream cones during the program’s upcoming finale in Plover.

The entrepreneurial pitch program this week announced its seven finalists and judges for the Nov. 13 event, which will be held before a live audience at John and Patty Noel’s Car Barn, 1995 River Bend in Plover, from 6-8:30 p.m. The event is free but registration is requested.

Club staff will serve ice cream to Hatch guests in the onsite ice cream parlor in exchange for donations. Funds collected will help kick off the Club’s #GivingTuesday Campaign to secure a new, larger walk-in freezer for its Berard Center.

Club kids are preparing thank-you notes for those who donate, according to a news release from the BGC.

The Berard Center freezer needs to be upgraded to accommodate the club’s food service program, which is now expanded to serving more than 400 kids after school daily, and over 600 club members in the summer.

The #GivingTuesday goal is to raise $15,000 by Dec. 3.
