By Patrick Lynn
The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County is celebrating its 20th anniversary in style this week.
The celebration will be held Thursday, May 26 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Club’s Berard Center, 941 Michigan Ave., and is open to the public, according to a news release from the organization on Wednesday.
“The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County wants to celebrate such a huge milestone with the community who helped make the past 20 years possible,” the release reads in part.
The first 200 attendees will receive a free anniversary t-shirt.
Planned for the event are a bounce house, an appearance by K9 dogs from the Stevens Point Police Department, yoga, and more. Free hot dogs will also be available, and Plover’s King Cone has created a special flavor of ice cream it will serve in honor of the anniversary.
The Club will also honor some key figures who have supported the organization, and members will also place items in a time capsule to be opened in another 20 years.
