Boys & Girls Club Thanksgiving was a rousing success

The Boys & Girls Club of Portage Co. says its 19th annual Thanksgiving feast was a big success.

Volunteers from the Club’s staff, board of directors, and community members served up over 550 meals during the annual affair on Nov. 16.

Families from all eight of the Club’s sites across Portage County received a free, grab-n-go Thanksgiving meal complete with roasted turkey, all trimmings, and pumpkin pie. Families also received a Thanksgiving family activity along with a chance to win a frozen turkey. Turkeys were sent home with 20 winning families.

Club families from Almond-Bancroft, Junction City, and Rosholt had their meals delivered to their Club site location, while Stevens Point and Plover area Club families were able to pick up their meals at the Berard Center.

Thirty-nine volunteers helped prepare and deliver meals to families. According to a news release from the Club, the organization had more volunteers than it needed.
