Boys & Girls Club fundraiser set for Central Waters Brewery

The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County is inviting families, businesses, and community members to mark their calendars for its annual Bags for BGC cornhole tournament next month in Amherst.

The fundraiser is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 6, at Central Waters Brewing Co. in Amherst. The event begins at 5 p.m., with tournament play starting at 5:30 p.m.

The family-friendly tournament pairs one adult age 21 or older with one child between the ages of 6 and 12. Registration is $20 per team, and prizes will be awarded to top finishers.

Community members who do not wish to compete are welcome to attend free of charge and cheer on participants. The event will also feature raffle drawings and local food trucks.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County’s Amherst Extension, helping fund youth programming, academic support, and safe after-school opportunities for local children and families.

The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County serves more than 2,000 youth through nine locations in Stevens Point, Plover, Junction City, Rosholt and Almond-Bancroft. Annual memberships are available for $10, with additional enrollment fees for summer and school-year programs.
