Bobby K. Linzmeier, 69
Bobby K. Linzmeier, 69, of Junction City, passed away at Aspirus Wausau Hospital on March 9 after an eight-month battle with cancer.
Bob was born on July 21, 1948 in Milwaukee to the late Robert and Elsie Linzmeier. He graduated from Bayview High School and earned Bachelor Degrees in Science and a Master’s of Science in Education and Professional Development at UWSP. He taught elementary school education in Stevens Point, mostly third and fourth grades, primarily at McKinley Elementary School.
Bob owned Stagger Inn on the Square in Stevens Point in his younger years. He also operated Linz’s Lawn Care for more than 20 years, and co-owned and worked with his wife, Gale, at Spitfire Grille Catering for more than 10 years, both up until the time of his death.
In his free time, Bob enjoyed watching and playing sports. During his college years he was the Pointer mascot for the UWSP football team and belonged to TKE fraternity. In his younger years, he was active in softball and worked as a swimming instructor and life guard. He was instrumental in developing the swimming program at Lake Pacawa in Plover. Bob was also involved in Big Brother Big Sisters and the Plover Lions Club. He additionally enjoyed hunting, reading, boating, fishing, playing cards, traveling and spending time with his family. He also supported UWSP men’s basketball, attending many games and sponsoring an annual pig roast for the team.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles as well as his younger brother, Baron. He is survived by his wife Gale and her sons Chris (Jenny) and Kyle (Ashley) Kidder (of Wisconsin Rapids and Alaska, respectively), his daughter Jessica Linzmeier of Stevens Point, and his son Jared (Deanna) Linzmeier of Nelsonville.
Bob had seven grandchildren: Baraka, Abby, Addie, Sammy, Grace, Elsie and Nia. He is further survived by five sisters: Sharon (Fred) Pohl, Joyce Linzmeier, Janet (Dennis) Nickels, Diane (Fernando) Lopez and Carol (Jeff) Wilburn. Bob is also survived by many nieces and nephews and the mother of his children, Marge Linzmeier.
Many people in the community knew Bob by his nickname “Linz” and will remember him for his kindness and positive attitude. He was always eager to help people in need and had great joy in seeing people succeed.
