Bernadine “Bernie” Domaszek, 91
Bernadine “Bernie” Domaszek, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, at Dimensions Living Center, at the age of 91.
Bernie was born July 13, 1934, to the late Henry and Cornelia (Czerwonka) Milanowski. She grew up in the area and attended local schools.
On Jan. 26, 1957, Bernie married Robert “Bob” J. Domaszek at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish in Polonia. Together they had five children and Bernie was a proud stay-at-home mother, caring for her children and maintaining a loving home for her family. Once her children were all in school, Bernie went to work at Washington Elementary School in the kitchen, eventually taking the role of head cook. There, she found a host of children to shower with food and attention. After her retirement, she would see those children around town, oftentimes as adults with children of their own, and was greeted with fond memories of her sandwich bread and the special attention she doled out in the lunch line.
Bernie loved to feed people; in her career and at home. She enjoyed family meals as well as gatherings. Thank yous from Bernie often came in the form of baked goods and she was always happy to contribute to bake sales at church and the Holly Shoppe. Over the years, her fare was enjoyed by many. Bernie also enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, playing bingo, camping, bird watching and taking trips to the casino.
Bernie is survived by her children, Gale (Paul) Kirby, and Dean, Kurt, Lynn and Renee Domaszek; her brothers, Robert (Irene), Marvin (Diane) and Ralph (Heidi) Milanowski; her sister-in-law, Agnes Milanowski; and many nieces and nephews.
Bernie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob; her parents, Henry and Cornelia; her parents-in-law, Raymond and Martha Domaszek; her brother, Leroy Milanowski; her sister, Audrey (Jerome) Kieliszewski; and her brothers-in-law, James (Arlene) and Eugene (Wanda) Domaszek.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Dimensions Living Center and at St. Croix Hospice, for providing such loving care on Bernie’s journey.
For those wishing to express their sympathies, the family kindly requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the family, to be used toward a memorial that will be established at a later date.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2151 Stanley St., Stevens Point. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point.
