Barbara Bablitch, née Larson, age 83, of Stevens Point, died April 12, 2025, at Pride TLC Rehab Center in Weston.
She was born Sept. 3, 1941, to Leland and Mary Larson. She graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1959 and married Jerry Bablitch in 1963. Barbara dedicated her life to raising her two children, Mike and Jacquie, while working in the P.J. Jacobs school cafeteria and teaching ice skating to young students through Portage County Youth on Ice.
In retirement, she found joy spending winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama, where she enjoyed golfing, shopping, and the warm weather. She cherished life’s simple pleasures, including browsing shops, cooking, and making memories with friends, family, and her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed walks with her dog, Lincoln, who preceded her in death by one week.
Barbara was diagnosed with lung cancer in December 2024 and faced her illness with courage until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Mike Bablitch.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Bablitch; daughter, Jacquie (Tom) Camacho of Fond du Lac; granddaughter, Maddie Steuerwald of Waupaca; grandson, Collin (Kristin) Bablitch of Stevens Point; daughter-in-law, Doreen Bablitch; great-grandsons, Brody and Bryson Bablitch; grandson, Tyler Bablitch; sister, Linda (Dan) Alfuth of Scandinavia; and brother, Bob Larson of Stevens Point.
Barbara will be remembered as a devoted wife, exceptional mother, and loving grandmother. Her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 18, at Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery.
