Author to discuss gangsters of Wisconsin past

The Portage Co. Library will host a popular author for a discussion on Wisconsin’s seedy criminal history.

Chad Lewis, who previously offered a presentation at the library on the state’s “most haunted” locations, will return on Sept. 7 with a free presentation on the likes of John Dillinger, Al Capone, Ma Barker, Baby Face Nelson, Homer Van Meter, Alvin “Creepy” Karpis and other notorious gangsters will ties to the Portage C0. area.

Lewis is the author of over 20 books including “The Wisconsin Road Guide to Gangster Hot Spots” and “The Minnesota Road Guide to Gangster Hot Spots.” He’s also appeared on episodes of Discovery Channel’s “A Haunting”, “Monsters and Mysteries in America”, “William Shatner’s Weird or What”, and “ABC’s Scariest Places on Earth.”  

The presentation will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the downtown branch of the Portage County Public Library, 1001 Main St.

The event will be free to the public and registration is not required.
