Atrium Senior Living ordered into receivership

Atrium Health and Senior Living is now in receivership.

Wood County Judge Nicholas Brazeau Jr. last week ordered an attorney to keep the struggling senior living center while owners look for a new operator.

Atrium Health and Senior Living operates skilled-nursing and assisted living facilities throughout Wisconsin, including a location at 1800 Sherman Ave. in Stevens Point.

Entering receivership is a sign the company is unable to pay its bills. The Stevens Point location utilizes city water and Whiting sewer services and is “months” behind paying its utility bills, according to Whiting Public Works Director Nicholas Schmeiser.

Atrium released a statement saying the move will put the company in a “stronger position for a potential, future transaction”.

“This action will allow our business to continue operating during the receivership without any interruptions to the important care services provided to our residents and their families. Additionally, the receivership protects our ability to pay our dedicated employees and meet our vendor obligations going forward.”

Milwaukee attorney Michael Polsky has been appointed to serve as receiver. Atrium said Health Dimensions Consulting Inc. will serve as operations consultant during the receivership process.

“The health, safety, and comfort of the residents will be the primary concern going forward,” Polsky said in the news release.
