Aspirus acquires sole ownership of health plan

Metro Wire Staff

Aspirus announced on Wednesday it has completed the purchase of WPS Health Solutions’ ownership stake in Aspirus Arise Health Plan of Wisconsin, making Aspirus the sole owner of the Wisconsin-based health plan.

Aspirus Arise was created in 2016 as a joint venture between Aspirus and WPS that has experienced “strong growth through its innovative approaches to health insurance and transparent interactions with customers”, according to a news release from Aspirus.

Aspirus and WPS maintain a strong working relationship, the press release said, and WPS continues to provide the same support services, such as claims processing and customer service, to Aspirus Arise members.

The ownership transition will not affect Aspirus Arise employees, plan members or providers.

Aspirus is a non-profit, community-directed health system based in Wausau and was recently recognized by IBM Watson Health as a Top 15 Health System in its 2018 annual study identifying the top-performing health systems in the country.
