Ascension at Home seeks hospice volunteers

Metro Wire Staff

Ascension at Home is seeking volunteers to help at hospice locations in Marshfield, Wausau, Wisconsin Rapids, and Stevens Point.

Hospice is about living each day to the fullest and having a quality of life—about helping individuals with terminal illnesses live each day comfortably and with dignity and peace.

Ascension at Home is currently in need of volunteers to staff the front desk at the House of the Dove in Marshfield—and has a growing need for patient support volunteers across its entire service area, which includes areas in and surrounding Wausau, Wisconsin Rapids, and Stevens Point.

The organization is also seeking seamstresses to help sew “Memory Bears” and veteran volunteers who can relate to patients who have served the county, and assist with veteran pinning ceremonies.

Ascension at Home offers comprehensive training for individuals who are interested. Volunteers are assigned according to their individual interests, abilities, and availability.

Upcoming training consists of four, two-hourly weekly training sessions, and begin in September. The training is free, held in small groups with social distancing, and all masks and materials will be provided.

Registration is required. For more information call Dawn Freedlund at 800-397-4216 or email [email protected].
