The City of Stevens Point is now seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the city council.
District 4 Councilwoman Heidi Oberstadt steps down from her role on April 30. A successful applicant will fill the remainder of her term, which expires April 7, 2020.
Candidates will be allowed five minutes to present themselves during a public council meeting on May 2 before being interviewed by the city council. Following the question-and-answer period, the council will vote on Oberstadt’s replacement.
Individuals interested in the position must be 18 years or older and live in District 4. Applicants will need to fill out a Declaration of Candidacy for Appointment by the Common Council to fill the vacancy, which is available in the city clerk’s office.
Applicants should also include a letter of interest, resume, references or other materials they believe will assist the council in the selection process. All application materials are due April 26.
The city clerk’s office is located at 1515 Strongs Ave. Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, but the office will be closed Monday, April 22 in observance of Easter.
