Appleton East tops SPASH baseball in Plover

PLOVER – SPASH struggled to get its offense going Monday night in a 6-1 nonconference loss to Appleton East at Memorial Park.
Appleton East scored three runs in the opening frame and never looked back, tallying 11 hits on the night. SPASH managed just one run in the fifth and was held scoreless in every other inning.
Jonathan Trelka took the loss for SPASH, allowing three earned runs on three hits over one inning. Caden Weinfurter provided solid relief, pitching five innings with one earned run on six hits and one strikeout. Jayden Suehs closed out the game, surrendering two unearned runs on two hits in the seventh.
Calvin Roth led SPASH at the plate with a double. The Panthers totaled four hits and committed one error.
Now 1-2 on the season, SPASH will host Merrill on Tuesday, April 15, at Bukolt Park in Stevens Point. The Panthers are still 0-0 in Wisconsin Valley Conference play.
