The annual Turkey Trot fundraising run will return on Thanksgiving morning, and this year it has moved to SPASH.

Originally overseen by Portage County CAN as a way to kick off the holiday season with physical activity, the event is now being operated by Festival Foods.

The family-friendly fundraiser offers a timed five-mile run, as well as a two-mile fun run, two mile-walk, or a two-mile “dog jog,” according to a news release from the Boys & Girls Club. The event begins at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24 at SPASH, 1201 North Point Dr.

Funds will benefit programs at the BCG, the Stevens Point Area YMCA, and the Interfaith Food Pantry in Plover.

Annie Wetter, president of Portage County CAN, said in the news release that she was grateful the community event will continue.

Registration is $35 for adults and $18 for kids until Nov. 20. The adult fee increases to $40 from Nov. 21-24. Registrants will reeve a long-sleeve Turkey Trot t-shirt, a six-inch pumpkin pie, and a bag of goodies including coupons.

Volunteers for the event will be entered into a drawing for two MVP Deck tickets for the Packers/Lions game in January.
