Anna Mae Mientus, 91
Anna Mae Mientus, née Litzinger, 91, of 3117 Michigan Ave., Stevens Point, passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Anna Mae was born Nov. 14, 1932, in Pitcairn, Pennsylvania, to the late Raymond and Cora (née Drish) Litzinger. She later moved to Illinois, where she worked for Illinois Bell, Western Union, and Illinois Food Products. It was at Illinois Food Products where she met her future husband, John. They were married on July 21, 1956, in Chicago.
In 1975, Anna Mae and John moved to Stevens Point with their son. She worked at the Rice Medical Center, retiring in 2009.
Anna Mae was deeply devoted to her family and had a lifelong love of dogs. She adopted several dogs over the years, including Rusty, Beau, Ginger, G’day, Youkon, and her last dog, Charlie. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, and cheering on the Brewers and Packers.
She is survived by her son, John (Mamie) Mientus of Custer; two grandchildren, Eric Mientus of Fox Lake and Vanessa (Jacob) Aumann of Merrill; and three great-grandchildren, Valerie, Kaleb, and Laila.
Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, and two sisters, June (née Litzinger) Cook and Marabelle (née Litzinger) Horst.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church, 3200 Plover Road, Plover. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at St. Bronislava Parish Cemetery.
