Andrew “Andy” Stephen Olander

Andrew “Andy” Stephen Olander, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2021, at Marshfield Hospital.

Andy was born July 10, 1947, to the late Andrew and Evelyn (Firkus) Olander in Milwaukee. He graduated from Milwaukee Pius High School, and then attended UW-Stevens Point graduating in 1970.

He began his career with Sentry Insurance. After leaving Sentry, he also worked for Heritage Computer Company, A.B. Dick Office Products, Furniture and Appliance Mart, Scaffidi Motors, and Len Dudas Motors.

Andy married Mary Stoltz on August 3, 2002, in Stevens Point. He enjoyed riding his Harley, trap shooting, and hunting.

Andy volunteered countless hours the past 35 years to the Wisconsin Elks Association Scholarship Program working with counselors, students, and parents. He did an outstanding job helping so many students reach their goals to further their education. He held numerous positions with the Wisconsin Elks Association including Past Exalted Ruler of Stevens Point Lodge #641, Past District Deputy, Elks State Scholarship Chairman, and current member of Marshfield Lodge #665. Andy is also a member of Moose Lodge #1572, Knights of Columbus, Izaak Walton League, and SIASEFI at UWSP.

Andy is survived by his wife Mary and best friend of 40 years, daughter Kris (Scott) Clark, his brother: Thomas (Susan) Olander and their children: Erika (Matt) McClean, Ryan (Carrie) Olander, Jennifer (Ryne) Wahlers. Sister Kathleen (Michael) Kellogg and their children Adam (Kelly) Kellogg, Christopher (Toffee) Kellogg. Sister Eileen (Philip) Quarles. Brothers-in-law: Donald Stoltz, Gary (Lori) Stoltz, and their children: Kyle, Nathan (Kelsey Leikam) Stoltz, and Ryan Stoltz. His aunt: Catherine Dobbe.

A Celebration of Life Service for Andy will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Shuda Funeral Chapel, 3200 Stanley St. Stevens Point. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 9 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday at Shuda’s.

In lieu of flowers, a scholarship will be established in Andy’s name. His mother Evelyn, aunt Helen Henning, and aunt Catherine Dobbe were all teachers. Education was a cherished priority within the family.
