Allen “Al” L. Rasmussen Sr., 77

Allen “Al” L. Rasmussen Sr., age 77, of Plover, died Feb. 11, 2018 at his residence surround by his loving family.

Allen was born on Oct. 22, 1940 to the late Fred & Gladys (Marquard) Rassmussen in Junction City, Wis. He grew up here, attended the local schools and graduated high school. Al was a lifelong truck driver, retiring in 2000.

He married Loretta M. Garski on April 4, 1964 at St. Peter Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on August 3, 2010.

Al will be remembered for his loving, strong nature and his dedication to his five children. He enjoyed spending his free time boating, camping, fishing and grilling out in the summer. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He relished attending his grandchildren’s baseball games and going to Club Forest for their chicken wings.

Survivors include his children, Sandy (Steven) Fletcher of Plover, Julie (William) Heindl of Mosinee, Diane (Mark) Beranek of Arpin, Allen Jr. (Keith) Rasmussen of Stevens Point, Brian (Tammy) Rasmussen of Wisconsin Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; special friend, Dorothy Kropidlowski; sister, Judy (Terry) Liebe of Junction City; brothers, Jerry (Barb) Rasmussen of Junction City and Robert Rasmussen of Plover; sister-in-laws, Shirley (Duane) Koscielski and Patricia (Michael) Piotrowski both of Winter Haven, Fla.; and good friends, Chum and Carol Bucholtz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Loretta; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Garski.

A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM, Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at Boston Funeral Home with Rev. David E. Ficken presiding. Visitation will be held Saturday from 11 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Forest Cemetery at a later date.

Al’s family asks that you please dress casual and if you have Green Bay Packers attire to wear that for the service.
