Alice Krumrei, 92

Alice Krumrei, beloved mom, grandma, and great-grandma went home to be with our Lord at age 92 surrounded by her son and daughter on June 4, 2022, at Willow Brooke Senior Living Center in Stevens Point, Wis. where she resided for the past two weeks.

Alice was born on December 4, 1929, to the late Felix and Clara (Repinski) Laszewski in Stevens Point and attended local schools in Stevens Point including P.J. Jacobs High School.

Alice married the late William Martin which resulted in divorce. She then married the late Richard Woods on April 15, 1954, in Dubuque, IA. She married Harold Krumrei on July 10, 1993. He passed away in 2015. She made her home in Stevens Point most of her entire life.

During World War II, Alice was an inspector of War Time Materials. Alice held part-time positions for the Portage County Commission on Aging as well as the Portage County Register of Deeds Office. She enjoyed her time working and the friendships in those offices she made very much. She volunteered for Operation Bootstrap of Portage County for many years. She was a Brownie Leader as well as a Girl Scout Leader for her youngest daughter Suzanne.

Alice has been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point for close to 65 years. She enjoyed making baby quilts for the nursery there for many years. In her spare time, Alice enjoyed quilting and made numerous quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed golfing, bowling, crosswords, fishing, traveling, and many visits to the cottages she owned in the St Germain area as well as Harrison Hills. She loved her time at the cottage and on the lake boating and fishing. She was an avid Scrabble and card player and loved to talk about her “wins.” In her most recent years, she looked forward to holidays as they included a houseful of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Alice is survived by her son Jeffrey (Nina) Woods, Belleville, Wis., daughter Lori (Craig) Truemper, Tomahawk, Wis., and daughter Karen (Michael) Larson, McFarland, Wis. Alice is also survived by three grandchildren, Kimberly (Benjamin) Beaudoin, Patrick (Ryan) Platta, and Joey Larson as well as five step-grandchildren Adam, Michael, Christopher, Teresa, and Michelle. Also, surviving are seven great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Brent, Amara, Wyatt, Ramsey, Taylor, Olivia, and many step-great-grandchildren, especially Kaylie, whom she all adored and who adored her. Alice is also survived by her sister Patricia Bannach, eight nieces, and two nephews.

Alice is preceded in death by her daughter Suzanne Woods, parents, Felix and Clara, her brothers Leonard, Eugene, and Donald Laszewski, brother Michael (Mickey) Lutz, and a stepgrandchild Ricky.

The family would like to thank Portage County Meals on Wheels and the wonderful people who delivered those meals to her, Aspirus Palliative Care Nurses, A Place for Mom, Heartland Hospice, and Willow Brooke Senior Living for the recent care of our mother. A special thank you to a few special friends of Alice’s; Danielle Baird, Katie from church, Pastor Clay, and her wonderful neighbors across the street, the Michael Baird family, especially Logan.
