Airshow returns to Stevens Point

By Brandi Makuski

The bi-annual airshow is returning to the city’s airport in June.

The free, family-friendly event, sponsored by the Stevens Point Pilots Association, gives the public a closer look at the local aviation industry, as well as a chance to meet local pilots. Multiple aircraft exhibits and other vendors will be onsite, along with children’s activities and an emergency vehicle display.

Breakfast and lunch will be available at the airport, provided by the Plover VFW and Ageless Aviation Dream Flight.

The event will be held Sunday, June 3, with the airshow taking flight at 1 p.m. Aerobatic air routines will be performed by the Vanguard Squadron, Grant Nielson, Dave Scott, Mike Weinfurter and Susan Dacy.

Dave Ladick, who is the president of the Stevens Point Pilots Association, said he was “thrilled” with the performance lineup this year.

“However, it is even more thrilling to be working with the local VFW and Ageless Aviation to help support our veterans,” he added.

The Stevens Point Pilots Association is a non-profit organization, with a purpose of encouraging general aviation activities, promote the Stevens Point Airport, encourage aviation safety and education.

The Stevens Point Municipal Airport—Mattson Field is located at 4501 Hwy. 66 in Stevens Point.
