Air Force woodwind quintet to perform at UW-Stevens Point

An ambassador of the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America, the Midwest Winds woodwind quintet will perform at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Wednesday, Feb. 7.

The free, public concert will be offered at 7:30 PM at Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center, 1800 Portage St. The group will perform a wide range of pieces, from classical and contemporary music to marches, patriotic crowd pleasers and light popular music.

The group will also present a colloquium for students at 4 PM.

The quintet is located at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois and provides music for military retirements, changes of command and other official military functions. The group also plays public concerts honoring service members and offers public clinics and master classes in wind chamber repertoire and instrumental technique.

Members include Master Sgt. Peter Dahlstrom on French horn, Senior Airman Ryan Missel on oboe, Staff Sgt. Joseph Philpott on clarinet, Staff Sgt. Rachel Maclary on flute and Staff Sgt. Sara Garing on bassoon.
