Volunteers needed for 2019 Cultural Festival

By Patrick Lynn

The United Way of Portage County is seeking volunteers to assist with the 2019 Cultural Festival.

The Portage County Cultural Festival is a one-day event designed to celebrate ethnic diversity in Portage County. More than 50 ethnicities will be represented in a series of vendor booths, food offerings, crafts and arts experiences, a children’s game area, and dance.

This year’s event has been scheduled 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 11 at Stevens Point Area Senior High. Now operating for over 20 years, the event typically attracts about 10,000 people of all ages and cultural backgrounds annually.

Volunteers are needed to help set-up the event and to work in the kitchen. The United Way is also seeking people to help with security and parking, in the children’s area, and to clean up after the event.

To sign up for a volunteer shift, go to www.volunteersrock.org or click here.
