Plover Village President Tom Davies and Administrator Dan Mahoney on Thursday morning released a statement for residents following the May 13 Wisconsin Supreme Court decision to overturn the extension of Gov. Tony Evers’ Safer at Home order.

The statement follows:

“We have been through a difficult time together. For some, it has been even harder. As your Village President, neighbor, and friend, I am proud of how our community has responded. You have shown incredible responsibility and compassion for your fellow citizen. We have seen firsthand the character of this community through the sacrifices made by each and every one of you. You have all done a great job with limiting your trips to the stores and maintaining social distances between each other. Many of you I see wearing masks and using hand sanitizer or washing your hands on every occasion.

“Even though the courts have now ruled officially lifting the Governor’s order, I ask you to please continue to sacrifice a bit more. Let us continue to practice those guidelines we have all become so familiar with for a bit longer.

  • Continue to wear masks.
  • Follow social distancing guidelines when visiting area businesses.
  • Keep washing your hands.
  • If you have a cough or are not feeling well think of others above yourself. Stay inside until symptoms pass and don’t hesitate to call your doctor and seek medical advice.

“Please keep in mind the most vulnerable of our community, our elderly population, and those with compromised immune systems, such as MS, Parkinson’s, heart conditions, cancer, etc. Also, now that the order is lifted, get back to the doctor yourself and get those preventive tests and treatments done. Do not neglect your own health care.

“The weather is great. Winter is over and we all have a full summer ahead. Let’s make it a summer to remember…maybe a new outlook, maybe a new appreciation for what we have instead of what we don’t. Life can change on a dime.”
