Rep. Katrina Shankland has honored retired Stockton Fire Chief Chris Kluck as First Responder of the Year for the 71st Assembly District.

Shankland awarded Kluck during a special “Hometown Hero” ceremony held during the Wisconsin State Assembly’s legislative session on Oct. 10 at the State Capitol.

Kluck retired from the Stockton Fire Department on Sept. 30, after three years as chief and more than 37 years in the fire service.

“He left an indelible mark on all three Portage County fire departments he worked with, serving each with incomparable dedication, selflessness, appreciation, and leadership,” Shankland said. “Chief Kluck embodies servant leadership and is a genuine and appreciative person who never misses an opportunity to show he is thankful for others. This First Responder of the Year award is a chance to return some of the gratitude to him from the community to whom he has given so much.”
