Stevens Point-based Skyward has announced academic scholarships for eight students attending Mid-State and UW-Stevens Point.

Mid-State award recipients include Boden Smith of Nekoosa; Whitney Scheid of Plover; and Tegan Kennedy, who received two scholarships, of Stevens Point. The students are pursuing degrees in computer science, business analysis, and software development, respectively.

Students were awarded their scholarships during the Mid-State annual awards reception in September.

Skyward has supported students enrolled at Mid-State since 2002, with 51 scholarships awarded to date, according to a press release from the company.

“The support of businesses, such as Skyward, truly transforms lives by helping our students reach their dream of a post-secondary degree,” said Jill Steckbauer, foundation and alumni director at Mid-State.

Five UW-Stevens Point students also received scholarships from Skyward: Mackenzie Wagoner of Stevens Point, Tyler Doll of Mosinee, Miranda Gorsuch of Pardeeville, Alissa Rickert of Birnamwood, and Tyler Paplham of Algoma. The students are studying computer information systems, art, and business administration.

Eric Yonke, dean of the college of letters and science at UWSP, said the school was “thankful” for its relationship with the company, adding, “the scholarships they create provide life-changing opportunities for promising students. For many, this is often more than just tuition assistance; this is the first step toward a successful career.”

Skyward’s scholarships reflect the company’s commitment to education and are made possible by donations and company-matched contributions. To learn more about Skyward careers, visit https://www.skyward.com/working-for-skyward.
