Portage Co. welcomes new court commissioner

New Portage Co. Court Commissioner Melissa Dalkert took her seat in late December, replacing outgoing Commissioner Janet Roberts, who retired.

Dalkert is an attorney in private practice, working primarily in Waupaca Co. She previously worked as a staff attorney with the State of Wisconsin Public Defender’s Office.

Dalkert was a long-time member and President of Portage County Legal Aid Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing civil legal assistance to individuals in poverty, primarily in family law matters. She is also a board member of the Wisconsin Access to Justice Commission.

Dalkert received her undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and earned her law degree from Suffolk University Law School.
