Police & Sheriff calls, Jan. 18

Yellers: Police were called to the 400 block of Michigan Ave. at 4:08 a.m. when a neighbor reported a man and woman were shouting loudly. Police knocked on the door for an extended period of time but no one answered.

Busted: A school resource officer found three juveniles vaping in the boy’s bathroom at Ben Franklin Jr. High, 2000 Polk St., at 8:52 a.m.

Welfare check: An elderly woman contacted police from the 2700 block of Fourth Ave. at 11:45 a.m. to request a welfare check on her granddaughter, age 23, because the younger woman reportedly had suspicious bruises on her body.

Trespasser: Police cited a known 50-year-old man for trespassing on the 2500 block of Church St. at 11:55 a.m.

Fraud: A 24-year-old man called police to the 400 block of Bukolt Ave. at 1:14 p.m. to report someone used his personal information to obtain a credit card, then maxed out the card at $1,100.

Vaper A 62-year-old man called police to the 2500 block of Church St. at 2:56 p.m. to report a 17-year-old boy with a vape pen.

Vandalism: Police responded to the 1100 block of Center Point Dr. at 3:39 p.m. when a caller reported a suspicious 45-year-old man was “walking around the building and drawing on windows.” The man was issued a citation for disorderly conduct.

Harassment: A 70-year-old woman called police from the 1400 block of Sixth Ave. at 3:45 p.m. to report her 72-year-old ex-husband was harassing her by phone. The woman was given information on obtaining a temporary restraining order.

Crash: Police cited a 31-year-old man for unsafe backing of his vehicle following a two-vehicle collision at Second St. North and Red Arrow Dr. at 4:11 p.m.

Crash: A 19-year-old man was cited for inattentive driving following a two-vehicle collision at Division and Jefferson streets at 5:09 p.m.

Crash: A 42-year-old man was cited for making an improper left turn after a two-vehicle collision at Dixon St. and Texas Ave. at 5:40 p.m.

Warrant: Police were called to conduct a welfare check on the 400 block of Maria Dr. at 6:47 p.m. During the check, they found a 37-year-old man who was wanted on a warrant.
